Aaron Drake is a classically trained pianist and composer who scores narrative and documentary films, Emmy Award-winning TV shows, and nationally broadcast advertisements.

With a unique background rooted in experimental and avant-garde composition, Aaron’s experience with various modes of composing brings depth and complexity to his work on the screen.

Aaron studied atonal composition and the New Complexity at San Francisco State University, completing his degree at the Hochschule für Musik in Trossingen, Germany (with advanced studies under Frank Cox and Mark Randall-Osborne at the Schloss Solitude in Stuttgart).

Later, Aaron earned his MFA in Composition from CalArts studying under James Tenney (microtonal music), Morton Subotnick (computer and electronic music), Michael Pisaro (experimental music), and David Rosenboom (logarithmic systems). This experience provided the foundation for his work in film and television by developing a concept-driven approach, oftentimes utilizing unconventional instrumentation.

Aaron lives in Los Angeles with his wife and 3 children.
